UNLEASHING THE FIGHTING SPIRIT: Maria Grazia Chiuri’s latest Dior cruise collection show unfolded beneath the expansive, unclouded blue skies of Scotland. However, for the promotional ad campaign, Chiuri opted for a stunning golden haze as the visual backdrop, perfectly encapsulating the collection’s essence.
Captured by photographer Brigitte Niedermair, the campaign features models Sanija Dalecka, Tanya Churbanova, Ali Dansky, and Jiali Zhao. They are framed against vibrant images of wild grasses and fierce flames, drawing inspiration from “a rebellious soul and the enduring beauty and strength represented by the legendary Mary Stuart,” as stated by Dior on Thursday.
The enchanting collection was showcased in the magnificent Italianate gardens of the historic Drummond Castle, a site dating back to the 15th century. This stunning setting complemented the array of luxurious materials employed in the designs, including sumptuous velvet and delicate lace, which were infused with equestrian spirit. Additionally, Renaissance artistry was evoked in the form of voluminous taffeta ball skirts, elegant trains, intricately embroidered dresses, and even chain mail accents.
Chiuri’s dedication to craftsmanship led her to travel to the Outer Hebrides, where she gained insight into the intricate process of creating Harris tweed woolens. These artisans, often farmers, weave the textiles in their homes using traditional treadle looms. Chiuri collaborated with this local collective to develop a unique tartan for her collection, reflecting the rich colors of the Scottish landscape.
Model Tanya Churbanova showcases a striking purple tartan coat paired with a shawl-collared dress, elegantly cinched with belts embellished with talismans. Meanwhile, Sanija Dalecka adorns a top featuring a historic image of Christian Dior fitting a model during his iconic spring 1955 show held at the Gleneagles Hotel.
The campaign expertly displays a range of accessories that include the iconic Lady Dior handbag, the trendy Dior Book Tote featuring a map of Scotland, and the stylish D-Fight ankle boots.
Niedermair also took the reins in art directing this captivating campaign, with the fashion expertly styled by Elin Svahn. The stunning makeup was crafted by Peter Philips, while the hair was styled by the talented Eugene Souleiman.
