The atmosphere backstage at the Giorgio Armani spring 2025 collection presentation in New York on Thursday was charged with anticipation, so quiet one could hear a pin drop.
As is typical for Armani, the beauty looks leaned towards subtlety, yet there was an undeniable element of boldness that emerged throughout the presentation.
“Adventure is the core concept guiding our makeup for this collection,” stated Hiromi Ueda, the global makeup artist for Armani Beauty. “We laid the groundwork with a natural finish, using the Luminous Silk Foundation and Concealer as our base, followed by a touch of warmth on the cheeks. The goal was to maintain a natural appearance while drawing attention to the eyes.”
For the eye makeup, the models showcased double-winged eyeliner that incorporated a daring blend of black and burgundy liners. Ueda elaborated, “I aimed to create a softer feel compared to traditional black eyeliner, and desired lips that were kept natural to perfectly complement this refined, effortless aesthetic.”
The hairstyles also embraced this softer vibe, designed under the expert direction of Orlando Pita. “Many models donned hats, so we opted for a ponytail styled toward the front, with some delicate wispy bangs left out,” explained Pita. “This choice infuses a touch of sweetness and charm, particularly since the structure of the hat can come across as rather severe.”
Some models presented a modern interpretation of a classic look, as Pita described. “We gathered two sections from the sides into a ponytail at the back while tucking the rest away. Mr. Armani has a preference for a more petite silhouette, hence the emphasis on smaller head shapes.”
Meanwhile, for the male models, the aim was to achieve a “curly, disheveled, yet enticing hairstyle,” Pita noted. “Whether we’re curling the hair or letting it be naturally textured, our focus remains on creating a cohesive and polished look.”
