CELEBRATING ARTS AND TALENT!
Mugler is taking a significant step in supporting the performing arts with the introduction of its inaugural social initiative aimed at empowering aspiring contemporary music and dance students who face financial challenges. This program encapsulates Mugler’s commitment to the arts and aims to provide essential resources to nurturing talent in these fields.
Named the Mugler Creators Program, this initiative will select 16 promising individuals for scholarship opportunities, granting them the financial support needed to pursue their artistic aspirations and turn their dreams into reality.
Kicking off in the current academic year, the Mugler Creators Program will allocate a generous €175,000 to educational institutions across the United States and the United Kingdom, with hopes to broaden its reach and impact on a global scale in the future.
In the United Kingdom, the program has formed a strategic partnership with Trinity Laban, a renowned institution celebrated for its contemporary music, dance, and vocal programs. Additionally, Mugler is collaborating with One Dance U.K., a national organization that advocates for dance as a legitimate career option. Together, they have selected scholarship recipients from this vibrant arts community.
In the United States, partnerships include Purchase College and the Purchase College Foundation, which features esteemed conservatories like The Conservatory of Dance. Faculty members within the Dance Board of Study are responsible for choosing the scholarship recipients who will benefit from this remarkable opportunity.
“For over five decades, Mugler has maintained an unbreakable bond with the realm of performance arts,” stated Danièle Lahana-Aidenbaum, global brand president of Mugler Fashion & Fragrances. “The legacy of this brand, owned by L’Oréal, continues to reflect this dynamic connection across various art forms.”
The late Thierry Mugler, the visionary founder of the brand, established profound relationships in the arts, collaborating with legends such as James Brown, Diana Ross, David Bowie, and George Michael, and more recently with contemporary icons like Dua Lipa, Blackpink, Bad Bunny, and Beyoncé.
“It fills me with immense pride and joy to facilitate platforms for gifted young artists to manifest their dreams,” added Lahana-Aidenbaum. “Through the Mugler Creators Program, we aim to inspire and empower the next generation of performers, enabling them to cultivate their full potential.”
Darrah Carr, director of The Conservatory of Dance at Purchase College, expressed her enthusiasm about the program, stating, “We are confident that these generous scholarships will allow our dancers to concentrate on their training and help alleviate their financial burdens as they complete their studies.”
“We are thrilled to collaborate with Mugler and One Dance U.K. on the Creators Program, as it resonates with our dedication to dismantling barriers to artistic accessibility,” remarked Anthony Browne, principal of Trinity Laban.
“We firmly believe that all young individuals, regardless of their background, should have the chance to pursue their creative aspirations, and this program is a fantastic opportunity for students to study with us, amplifying the voices of a new generation of musicians and dancers,” he added.
Additionally, Félicity Ben Rejeb Price, a British-Tunisian director, has created a film showcasing student volunteers from Purchase College and Trinity Laban, highlighting their journey. The movement design for this project was expertly choreographed by Cain Coleman, a Purchase Dance alumnus and commissioned guest artist, alongside Stephanie Schober, a distinguished professor at Trinity Laban.
