UH UH!!!
The Birkin bag has met its match.
On Wednesday, French luxury house Rabanne (formerly Paco Rabanne) debuted what is being called the world’s “most expensive bag” during its Spring 2025 show in Paris. The stunning metallic piece, named the Nano Bag is crafted from 18-karat gold and pays homage to the iconic minidress that designer Paco Rabanne created for Françoise Hardy in 1968. The original dress, made from 1,000 gold plaques and 300 carats of diamonds, was once the “most expensive dress” of its time.
The 1969 Golden Bag created in collaboration with artisan jeweler Arthus Bertrand, carries a price tag of €250,000 ($278,353) and took 100 hours to handcraft from interlinked gold discs. Rabanne, known for its avant-garde designs using unconventional materials, continues to push boundaries with this new creation.
The Paris Fashion Week show also featured other standout accessories, including the 1969 Glass Bag, crafted from glass pastilles by Italian glassmaker Venini, and the 1969 Ceramic Bag , made from clay discs by Parisian workshop Astier de Villatte. Both are now available for order at Rabanne’s Paris boutique.
